SMETANA The Bartered Bride: Three Dances
COPLAND Rodeo: Four Dances

The GVYO dances through its season finale! Mendelssohn’s beloved Italian Symphony opens with youthful energy and whirls its way to the final movement, a feisty saltarello. Bedrich Smetana celebrates Czech culture with three lively dances from The Bartered Bride: Polka, brimming with energy; Furiant, a vigorous folk dance; and Dance of the Comedians, a scokná or “jumping dance”. Copland’s Rodeo, originally written for the ballet, brings cowboy culture to life: Buckaroo Holiday, Corral Nocturne, Saturday Night Waltz and Hoe-Down will have you tapping your toes!
