Artist Profile Types
There are two types of profiles for artists on these sites with slightly different purposes band / act / ensemble profiles which can link to the individual profiles of the members of the ensemble and then individual profiles. Generally it is intuitive to pick the right type, but there are some cases where this gets murky.
Solo Acts
If a musician performs solo under their own name, either profile type will work but a band / act profile is actually the better way to list them. When they perform their own music under their name that is a particular act with a genre etc. That musician might also play in other bands too, so you might want to have a separate individual profile that could be included in the roster of other bands.
DJs
DJs are best listed as a band/act profile. The logic here is the same as above, the particular version of them performing as DJ Whatever is one thing they do, but they might also play in a band, or DJ under a different alias.
