Canus Red Hot Traditional Jazz Matinee - Dec. 3, 2023

https://hermannsjazz.com/donate

CanUS Jazz is New Orleans Jazz with lots of vocals including Jazzy Three-Part Harmony & a Hot Band. Often called "happy jazz”-a perfect way to celebrate “Seniors Day” and lift your spirits, get your toes tapping. Hermann’s Jazz Club is a world class show space, voted the favourite in all of Canada and which also has a great menu & bar service.
We will also be paying tribute to the memory of two former CanUS musicians: Don Leppard, drummer and Everett Atchison, bassist. Musicians are invited to sit in should they wish to add to honouring these who have left us.

Newest to the group is Simon Stribling, former leader of Australia’s "Fireworks Jazz Band” They travelled world-wide & he is now living in Victoria . He joins local heroes of classic jazz, Al Pease, clarinet, Doug Rhodes, saxophone, Avram McCagherty, banjo, Joey Smith bass, Damian Graham, drums and Toni Blodgett, band leader & tickling the ivories. Walk-ins welcome or reserve online - or telephone 250-388-9166.
Amazingly, this is the 32nd year of CanUS performing at Hermanns Jazz Club while at the same time touring the U.S. and Canada Traditional Jazz Festivals for 25 of those years. Their concert at the Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C. can still be seen on youtube where you can also listen to all 8 of their CD’s.
